Donald "Don" Potter, born on October 2, 1942, in Yankton, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, in Warner Robins, Georgia.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Dickerson Potter, who passed away in 2022, along with his parents, Clarence and Ella Orth Potter. He leaves behind his loving son, Donald "Lee" Potter, Jr. (DeeDee), as well as his cherished grandchildren, Katey and Julianne Potter. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Chrestensen (Donovan) and Dorothy Limonges (Buck), and a sister-in-law, Cindy Hutcheson (Wayne), and their children, Barry (Allison) Lucas and Brian Lucas (Caroline), including Barry’s daughter, Georgia Lucas, and Brian’s children, Leah and Libby Lucas.
A dedicated service member, Don enlisted in the National Guard and later transitioned to the United States Air Force, demonstrating immense pride in his military service. His career spanned over 35 years at the paper mill in Macon, Georgia, known today as Graphic Packaging International (GPI), where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. Don had a passion for reading, particularly enjoying the works of Dean Koontz and Stephen King. He also found joy in caring for his home, lawn, and cars, a testament to his pride in his surroundings. Along with his interest in cars, Don attended First United Methodist Church and Central UMC in Warner Robins, where he listened to God’s scripture and hymns.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on January 30, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Parkway Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM, where military honors will be rendered in recognition of his service.
