Gloria Charlotte was born on July 4th,1928 to Henry and Charlotte Niedenstein in New York City. As a child she thought that all the celebrations and fireworks were for her! She was an only child, but lived in an apartment building owned by her grandparents, George and Gertrude Krauth, and spent many wonderful hours with them. She attended elementary, middle and high school in the Bronx, and after graduation went to Hunter College for two years. Following that she transferred to The University of Oklahoma, where she became a Sooner! She joined the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and was first runner up to the Homecoming Queen her senior year- she was and is a beauty!

After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics and a minor in art, she returned to New York City where she taught in the public schools for a year. Following that she became engaged to and married Kenneth MacWhinney and had 49 blissfully happy years together before he died. They moved from New Jersey to California and back to Massachusetts. Gloria was the epitome of a homemaker, cooking, sewing and entertaining beautifully. She was a wonderful mother to Carol, Doug and Joann, who had many wonderful hours with her. She has two grandchildren and five great grandchildren- her loves! Additionally, she volunteered her time with many groups, always giving joyfully. She was a Sunday School teacher, active in the PTA, a Girl Scout leader, and was the first woman elder in the Needham Presbyterian Church in Massachusetts.

Gloria and Ken retired to Osprey, Florida in 1978 where she once again spent many hours volunteering while also playing a mean game of tennis! Glorian and Ken were always involved in church wherever they lived. After Ken died, Gloria moved to Seminole, Florida in 2005. She volunteered at the local elementary school with the kindergarteners, she was a leader in theGood News Club after school and drove for Meals on Wheels for many years. She attended the Faith Community Church where she served as a deacon.Gloria says that she never remembers a day in her life that she did not love Jesus, and His love shone through her for all to see. In her final days she lived at the Vineyard ALF, in Seminole, where she was treated like a queen.
