In Loving Memory
Loading
Joseph Leon Rabon, Jr. of Gaston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home with his family gathered around him.
He was lovingly known as “Papa” by most. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Papa was a devoted husband and family man whose life was defined by his love for his family and the simple joys that mattered most to him. He worked faithfully as a dockhand for 44 years at Overnite/UPS, a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication. After retiring, Papa truly retired settling into his recliner, enjoying well-earned rest, while watching a western or sci-fi show (crap TV).
He loved fishing, and always had stories to tell about it. One of his most treasured traditions was sitting at the counter with Paige, sharing oysters together—their thing—a memory that will forever be held close. He shared a playful bond with his great-granddaughter Maci, whom he lovingly called “Maci Poo,” only to be corrected as she proudly declared, “No, I’m Maci Leeann Sharpe!” He also affectionately called his great-grandson Easton “Little Red”.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Rabon; his daughters, Julie (Allan) Cook and Jonie Rabon; his grandchildren, Paige (Nick) Sharpe, Chad (Kimberly) Cook, and Justin (Kaylee) Rabon; and his great-grandchildren, Maci Sharpe and Easton Rabon.
His family will forever cherish the memories, lessons, laughter, and love he shared. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will always be remembered.
