Daniel "Dan" Scott Hoffman, age 67, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away on January 16, 2026. He was born on November 9, 1958, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late Patricia Lou and Robert Wayne Hoffman.
Dan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Above all else, he was a family man whose life was marked by joy, generosity, and a deep commitment to serving others. He was fun-loving, larger than life, and known as a helper who never hesitated to step in when someone needed support.
A proud Navy veteran, Dan carried a strong sense of discipline, service, and honor throughout his life. By trade, he was a machinist, but in practice, he was also a mentor and lifelong learner who loved growing, teaching, and encouraging those around him.
Dan excelled in athletics and remained passionate about sports his entire life. He was a standout athlete, competing in football, track and field, wrestling, racquetball, golf, and softball. His competitive spirit was always paired with enthusiasm, good humor, and a genuine love for the game.
He found joy in simple and meaningful moments—fishing, cycling, baking with his family, and savoring coffee dates with his daughter. He loved weekend trips with his wife and had a deep love for travel and exploration. Disney was his happy place, a reflection of his childlike wonder, love for fun, and appreciation for shared experiences.
Dan was a servant of the Lord whose faith shaped how he lived and loved. He believed deeply in courage, joy, and perseverance, holding close the words of Joshua 1:9, “Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go,” and Proverbs 17:22, “A joyful heart is good medicine.”
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Robin Hoffman; his daughter, Alexis Hoffman, and her husband, Matthew Wedderspoon; and his cherished granddaughter, Sybil Wedderspoon. He is also survived by his siblings, David, Darla, Denise, and Doug, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were deeply impacted by his life.
Dan’s legacy is one of faith, laughter, service, and love. He will be remembered for his joyful spirit, his dedication to family, and the way he made people feel seen, supported, and encouraged. His life was a gift, and his influence will continue to be felt for generations.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday January 29, 2026, at Freedom Church, located at 1425 Cypress Gardens Road, Moncks Corner, SC 29461. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by the Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan’s memory to the Gary Sinise Foundation or to Blankets of Grace, c/o Freedom Church.
