William Joseph “Bill,” “Billy,” “Weeum” Welter, age 63, passed away on January 7th 2026, in Tucson Arizona. Bill was born on May 6th 1962, in Tucson, Az, just minutes before his twin brother John. Bill was a Tucson native. He was raised in the city he loved, though the heat was beginning to lose its appeal. Throughout his life he was surrounded by his family, faith, and friends.
Bill was a devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather whose life centered on those he loved most. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Linda. He was a cherished brother to Thomas, James (Roxanne), Robert (Karen), Kathrine, and John, and a proud father to his daughters, Katelynn (Michael) and Rebecca. His greatest joy in recent years was being “PopPop” to his grandsons Bennett and Matthew, whom he adored beyond measure.
A hardworking man, Bill spent much of his career with Jewelcor and W.W. Williams, and also found great satisfaction in woodworking. He had a passion for cooking and was always happiest when sharing a meal, a laugh, or a movie with family. He loved traveling to San Diego, spending time at the family cabin in Pinetop, visiting Disneyland whenever possible and admiring old cars. Wherever Bill was there was warmth, humor and a sense of belonging.
Bill was a man of strong Catholic faith and lived his life guided by love, generosity and devotion to his family. He was known for his unique sense of humor, his unforgettable laugh and a smile that could light up a room. He would do anything for the people he loved and they always knew it.
Bill is reunited in heaven with his parents, George and Irene, his brother Paul and his beloved dog, Molly- a cherished Christmas gift from Linda who held a special place in his heart.
A Funeral Mass will be held on January 31, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 1946 E. Lee Street, Tucson, Arizona.
We will love you and miss you forever and in true Bill nature we end with “read between the fingers”!
