Charles Howard Ford, age 72, passed away on January 17, 2026.
Charles (Butch) was born on September 29, 1953, in East Orange, New Jersey, to Alvin Lee Davis Sr. and Alice Elizabeth Davis, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Alvin Lee Davis Jr. and Kenneth Davis.
He is survived by his siblings Kaszondra Davis and Kevin Davis, along with extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Charles spent part of his early life in New Jersey, where he worked for the Post Office and in his spare time, he was a DJ (DJ Wizard) for multiple venues, sharing his love of music and connecting people through sound and rhythm. He later settled in California, where he lived most of his life and settled in his later years at the Windsor Skyline Care center in Salinas, CA.
A true lover of music, Charles had a deep passion for jazz, which remained a constant source of joy and inspiration throughout his life. He was also a compassionate advocate for the homeless, caring deeply about those in need and quietly offering help and understanding whenever possible.
Charles will be remembered for his generous spirit, his love of music, and the meaningful impact he made through his kindness, advocacy, and humanity.

We Entrusted Charles Ford's Care To
Healey Mortuary
At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
