Dolores Dawn (Kosednar, nee Kucera) peacefully left this earthly life on January 22, 2026. She was born to Albert and Ann Kucera in Milwaukee, WI on December 12, 1934. Dolores married Frank Kosednar and together they raised 9 children, Tim, Mike (Kathy Alwin), Jane, David (Marty Kral), Patty, Kathy, Valerie (Mark Grieco), Mary and Dan (Kimberly Vrubley) Kosednar.
In 1988 Dolores left Wisconsin for warmer climes in New Mexico and then Arizona. She returned to Waukesha WI in 2023, spending the last few years in her family’s loving care.
Dolores was an alum of the Madison School of Nursing and throughout her career as an RN worked in Labor and Delivery, Hospice care, home health care and helped manage an AIDS clinic and provide care for patients with AIDS. Dolores was a musician and shared her impressive talents of voice, guitar, dulcimer and banjo, singing in her local community choir and playing in a bluegrass band well into her eighties. While in Arizona she was active in her SMR community fiber arts, book club, and creative writing groups. Throughout her life, Dolores was an activist for peace and social justice, fighting for civil rights, migrant issues and rights for women, giving voice to those without voices and quick to serve those in need.
Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved son David Kosednar. Those who will continue to celebrate her life include sisters Janet Johnson, Janice Brochhausen and Carol Byrnes, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private celebration at a future date.
