Sarah Dye Kelsay, age 89, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on January 24, 2026.

Born on February 28, 1936, in Portland, Tennessee, Sarah lived a life devoted to her family, her students, and her community. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky State University and a Master’s degree from Morehead State University. She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

Sarah dedicated 38 years to teaching elementary and middle school students and later served 33 years as a librarian. Her commitment to education earned her recognition as Teacher of the Year. She was actively involved in local clubs and professional organizations throughout her life.

In retirement, Sarah shared her creativity by teaching basket weaving classes that became well known and deeply loved, fostering friendships and laughter throughout the community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Terrence Kelsay, and her brother, Joe Dye. She is survived by her children, John (Donna) Kelsay and Margret Campbell; her siblings, Jane Hines and Henry Dye; her grandchildren, Justin Dorman (Hannah), Sarah Hill, Joseph Kelsay, and Rebecca Kelsay; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her beloved Chihuahua, Freckles.

Sarah will be remembered for her gentle spirit, joyful laughter, and the many lives she touched through teaching and service.
