Chester A. Hoynoski, Jr., of Venice, Florida, also known as Chet or “Junior”, passed away unexpectedly on January 23, 2026. He was born in Springfield, MA on December 18, 1944.  Prior to moving to Venice in 2015 he resided in Westfield and Springfield, MA. Chester owned and operated Chets Auto in Springfield, MA for over 40 years dealing in scrap metal, car parts, and used cars. He retired from the US Navy as a disabled Vietnam Vet. Chet was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge in Englewood, Florida and the Japanese Gardens ARC Committee where he served as Vice Chairman.

 

Chet was an avid golfer and real estate entrepreneur and was known for his 5 mile daily walk in Japanese Gardens.

 

He is survived by his wife, Linda A. Cataw, a daughter, Leah (Nick) Andringa and grandson, Zachary of Agawam, MA; a twin sister, Laura Lewis of Columbus, OH; two brothers, John (Laural) Hoynoski of Higganum, CT. and  Anthony Hoynoski; six nieces and one nephew. Two step-daughters, Deborah Cook (Erick Shiels) of N. Egrement, MA, Nadine Hawver of Sheffield, MA; a step-son, Michael Seifert (Diane) of Elmire, NY; two grandsons, Evan and Ryan; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie Ullrich (Timothy) Mariah Holm (Josh) and Cody Cook; five great-grandchildren, Fiona, Winter, Madison, McKenzie, and Michael, two great great grandchildren.

Chet was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Michela, his father, Chester A. Hoynoski, Sr.  both of West Springfield, MA, and a son Gregory Hoynoski of Boonesmill, VA.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Breast Cancer Society, American Heart Association or St. Jude’s. 

 

A Celebration of Life will be held in Japanese Gardens on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 2 to 4 pm. Interment will be held in the Veterans Cemetery in Agawam, MA at a later date.
