Julia “Judy” Worrell Goodlett (77) of West Columbia, SC went home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased in life by her parents William Bonner and Helen Worrell, brothers William Clarence and Joseph Furman Worrell of Orangeburg SC, and sister-in-law Betsy Goodlett Montgomery of Williamston, SC.

 

Julia attended Wade Hampton Academy graduating in 1966 and then attended Palmer Business College in Columbia, SC.

 

In 1968 she married Otis Mills Goodlett III of Williamston, SC. They settled in West Columbia, SC where they raised their children. Judy was a fantastic cook and homemaker known best for her Thanksgiving dressing, pot roast, and macaroni and cheese. During her life she was involved with multiple organizations. She spent many years working with the Lexington High School Band Boosters. She had a tremendous love for her husband, children, grandchildren, and all animals. Her family will greatly miss her laugh, smile, honesty, and ability to find the sunshine in the darkest of times.

 

Julia is survived by her husband Otis Mills Goodlett III of West Columbia, SC, her daughter Tara Goodlett Gaines (Ashley) of Concord, NC, and her son Otis Mills “Ivy” Goodlett IV (Allison) of Stafford, Virginia. She is survived by 4 grandchildren whom she adored, William Alexander Gaines and Emily Gaines of Concord, NC and Jackson Goodlett and Michael Goodlett of Stafford, Virginia. She is also survived by sister in law Linda Worrell of Orangeburg, SC. There are also nieces, nephews and a great nephew that survive her.

 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at mda.org or American Cancer Society at cancer.org.
