It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melissa Lynn Medlin, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and friend, who departed this world on January 24, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on March 1, 1965, in the beautiful city of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Melissa graced the lives of many with her warmth, creativity, and passion for life.
Melissa was the cherished daughter of Leona Medlin, who instilled in her a love for learning and family. In her early years, she showed a remarkable aptitude for academics, which led her to National College. There, Melissa distinguished herself by making the honor roll and generously sharing her knowledge as a tutor in writing code, demonstrating her commitment to helping others succeed.
On June 4, 1999, she united in marriage with Tom Mabry, a partnership filled with love and mutual respect. Together, they created a life rich in joy and adventure, surrounded by the vibrant community they cherished in Colorado Springs. Melissa is survived by her beloved husband Tom Mabry, and family members of Beverley Medlin, and Karen Redmon, whose memories she cherished deeply. She leaves behind her devoted mother, Leona, and a wide circle of friends and family who will forever hold her in their hearts.
A passionate genealogist, Melissa dedicated countless hours to building the Medlin family tree, connecting with her roots and celebrating her heritage. She found immense joy in participating in Volksmarches and Celtic festivals and engaging in a variety of activities, often swept up in the whirlwind of adventures and things to do brought on by her sister. Her love for collecting dragons and teddy bears was a reflection of her whimsical spirit and her nurturing nature. She loved traveling the backroads of a country town with her husband, Tom. She loved her two dogs Toby and Drake and always looked forward to traveling out of state to go visit family members who she would talk with till all hours of the night.
Melissa was known for her remarkable culinary skills, often delighting family and friends with her delicious creations. Her cooking brought people together, creating cherished memories around the dining table. In all aspects of her life, Melissa exemplified kindness, tenacity, and a zest for knowledge. She was a beacon of light, touching the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who carry forward her love for family, learning, and community.
Melissa's services will be held on February 5, 2026, at Eastborough Church of the Nazarene located at 4123 E Pikes Peak Avenue Colorado Springs Colorado 80909 where friends and family are invited to share their memories and honor her profound impact on all our lives.
