Margaret Mary Lamoreaux (1938–2026)

A devoted and loyal wife, caring mother and joyful grandmother, Marge lived her life in service of others, demonstrating on a daily basis what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ. In particular, she had a special relationship with her “quiver full” of grandchildren and great grandchildren, who she referred to as her "special blessings.” They came to know her as Grammy.

Margaret Mary Lamoreaux, 87, slipped peacefully into eternity on January 17 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was greeted in Heaven first by her Savior, and then most likely then by her dad, who she often spoke of and was the one who taught her the practice of sacrificial giving. She was born on April 9,1938 to Andrew and Helen Bedrin in Simpson, Pennsylvania. After immigrating from Europe, the family had settled in this small town and they began raising their children there. As a young woman, she provided a sense of calm and joy to those around her, both family and friends. These qualities would carry forward into her entire life.

Marge would meet a handsome, young Airforce Staff Sergeant in 1958 while visiting her sister, May, in Kansas. Glen was stationed at the Airforce base there, and worked with her brother-in-law. Marge would move home to Pennsylvania, so they would fall in love over time, writing letters and seeing each other as they could. He would propose and marry her in 1960. Marge would later admit that while dating, she looked across a clothesline, into his blue eyes, and knew he would be hers.

Marge and Glen would start their own family in Newfoundland, Canada, when Julie was born in 1961. Michelle and Joel would follow in 1964 and 1965 in Wyoming. Glen would retire from active service in 1968 and move the family to Colorado. Living in North Denver, Marge devoted herself to raising her children, tending to her home and actively engaging in volunteerism at church. She loved singing hymns at both church and at home. Music had a special place in her life as evidenced not only by the number of hymns she memorized, but through her volunteerism. For several years, she actively supported a young adult choir that toured often across the United States.

Raised in a Catholic home, Marge established an important foundation of faith in God. She would later enter into a deep and meaningful relationship with her Savior as a young mom raising her family, placing her full faith in his sacrifice on the cross. No longer depending on her works, Ephesians 2:8-9 would become her life verses: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” She would spend the rest of her time on Earth seeking her Savior, singing hymns, memorizing verses and reminding us all on a regular basis to, “keep looking up.”

Glen would retire from civil service for the Airforce in 1990, and they would buy their dream home in Castle Rock. For several decades, this home became a gathering place for holidays, a temporary home for any and all family members in need, and a welcome location for a nap on a comfortable couch or chair. There, Marge would live out her life purpose, loving and caring for her entire family, ending each conversation with the line, “Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.” It is certainly no accident that on the first page of her well-worn Bible, there is a single quote: “We must pray for the gift of sensitivity – the eyes to see and a heart to care.”

Marge is survived by her husband and best friend, Glen, her sister, Linda, her children, Julie (Tom), Michelle (Pat) and Joel (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Steven (Katelyn) Joshua (Deanna),

Amy, Jens (Jessie), Amber (Ryan), Mariah (Robert), Eli (Madison), Noelle, Andrew and Caleb; and by her great grandchildren Brecken, Ryleigh, Jaxson, Esther, Titus, Daniel, Jace, Jane, Jaxe, Lucas, Charley, Finnley, Sutton, and Chance.

Marge will be laid to rest at Pikes Peak National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 10 in a small, private ceremony with family present. A celebration of life will take place at Melody Living to honor her life and all she meant to those around her at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted in Marge’s honor to The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Click on this IFCJ link to make a donation.
