Jo Ellen Husted was born in Chicago, Illinois on Dec 11, 1946 to Mary Ellen Husted (a former Miss Frontier Days in Cheyanne, WY) and Dr. Joel Reid Husted. Dr. Husted was in his residency at the time. They lived in Ann Arbor Michigan after that and then moved to Boulder in 1950. They had 3 more children, Linda, Jens, and Kris. They loved taking summer trips and entertaining the neighborhood, including a full production of the musical ‘Oklahoma!’ in their backyard.

JoEllen attended Boulder High and participated in the Madrigal Choir as well as a lead role in the musical ‘The King and I’. After High School JoEllen attended Westminster College in Wilmington, PA and the University of Colorado, majoring in psychology. Then she also spent a year working with the service organization VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) from 1966-67 in Pittsburgh, PA.

In 1969 JoEllen got engaged to Andrew Terrell and they were married in the First Presbyterian Chapel. They traveled across the country several times as Andy served several terms in the U.S. Navy. JoEllen and Andy were both musical. JoEllen played piano and Andy played guitar. They loved to sing together and led worship at many of the churches they attended. They were always active in local churches wherever Andy was stationed. After Andy retired from the Navy they returned to Boulder where they were very active in St. Aiden and St. Ambrose Episcopal Churches and later in Epiphany Anglican church. She was an avid puzzler and knitter and made baby blankets for anyone she knew was having a baby. JoEllen loved to tell everyone about Jesus. She was never without a card or flyer telling people about how much God loves them. She went home to be with Jesus after a brief illness.

Jo Ellen is survived by five children, Kathryn Ray, Lane (Malise), Jesse (Ruth), Joel (Terri) and Melody (Sean). There are seven grandchildren, Hannah, Andrew and Catherine; Hilton (Kate) and Stanton (Anna); Elizabeth Ruth and Claire. She was excited to welcome a great grandbaby in June.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb 16th at 11 am at Longmont Church of the Nazerene with a reception following.
