It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Daniel D. Ridgway, who departed this life on January 28, 2026, at the age of 74 in Ware, Massachusetts. He was born on January 9, 1952, in Buffalo, New York, to the late Daniel Ridgway and Vivian (Provenzo) Grossman.

Daniel proudly served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War era. His commitment to duty and bravery are remembered with profound respect.

After his service, Daniel furthered his education and graduated from the University of Buffalo.

He devoted many years to his career at Consolidated Freightways in Buffalo, eventually transferring to Chicopee. There, he established numerous lasting friendships that enriched both his life and the lives of those around him.

Family was at the heart of Daniel's existence. He was a beloved husband to his wife of 38 years, Lisa Furtek, and a devoted father to his daughters, Sara Ridgway, and Samantha Ridgway and fiancée Zach Venturini, and son, Darrell Klein. His role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, and he will be dearly missed by his grandsons, Myles Bartusewich, Hayden Ridgway, and Neil and David Klein. Daniel is also survived by his cherished sister, Deborah Jones, and her husband, Chris, as well as his sister-in-law, Pam Doyle, brothers-in-law Greg Furtek, and Tom Furtek and wife Carolyn, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A man of many interests, Daniel often found joy in riding his motorcycle. He relished weekend adventures alongside his brother-in-law, Tom, and cherished friends, basking in the freedom of the open road.

Visitation will take place on February 11, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:45 PM, with a funeral service commencing at 2:45 PM at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Burial will follow on February 12, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, where family, friends, and loved ones are invited to meet directly.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Daniel's memory to Baystate Hospice by visiting baystatehealth.org, selecting the "donate" option, and directing contributions to Baystate Home Health-Hospice.

Daniel lived a life rich with love, service, and camaraderie, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.
