in memory of Stephen Herbert Akin born December 7, 1949 in Houston Texas. He was the son of Tracy Marie Hardy and Herbert Royce Akin. He is survived by his wife, Jannie, Diane Akin of the home and a son Stephen Charles Akin, (Missy) of Easley, South Carolina a stepdaughter, Loranda, H Lewis of Greenwood, South Carolina a stepson, William E Herring Jr. (Tana) of North Carolina 10 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.At the time of his death he was residing in Charleston, South Carolina where he owned a financial planning business Akin investments in his lifetime. He was a professional musician, a 300 ton merchant marine boat captain a stock broker/financial planner as well as an avid sailor he spent years as an active Rotarian. He went to live with Jesus on January 27, 2026 after a long battle with cancer, a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
