Ann Margaret Tansill (neé Skaling), born June 9, 1954, in Boston, MA, passed away on January 20, 2026. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, William Boyd Tansill III; daughter, Jessica Peerwani; and grandsons, Isaiah and Oliver. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathleen Cresswell and Elaine Glass (Ernie); her brother, Daniel Skaling Jr. (Carol); and their children and grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Daniel and Elaine Skaling, and by her son, Boyd. Raised in Glen Burnie, MD, she moved to Falls Church, VA, in 1975 following her marriage.
Ann was a beloved wife, mother, Mimi, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a "bonus mom" to many of Jessica and Boyd's friends, taking immense pleasure in maintaining a home where everyone felt welcome. Over the years, she provided love, food, and support to countless people.
A faithful servant, Ann was proud to be an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Session, and a choir member. She also volunteered regularly at both the church and her children’s schools.
Ann had a deep love for music, movies, and books, and she especially enjoyed attending live concerts and theater productions. Her talents in the kitchen were well known and will be deeply missed. Her award-winning meatloaf, famous chocolate cake, and family lasagna were just a few of the cherished meals she prepared to show her love for others.
One of her greatest joys was becoming a sponsor for "her" tigers—Siberian sisters Tiffany and Tasha—who resided at a local animal sanctuary. Visiting and petting them was a lifelong dream she was able to fulfill. She also enjoyed knitting for many years until health challenges made it difficult to continue.
Ann will be missed dearly by the many people who loved her. After struggling with chronic and debilitating health issues for over 40 years, her family is grateful that her pain and suffering have finally come to an end.
In lieu of flowers, she would like to have donations made in her honor to St. Jude's or this organization for elephants: https://elephantaidinternational.org/
