Floyd H. Hoyt, a lifelong resident of Stony Point, passed away on January 30, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was 95 years old.
He is the son of his late parents Mary and John Hoyt, and predeceased by his brothers Albert, Douglas, John and Donald and his sisters Ruth Koch and Elizabeth Smith.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife Josephine of 66 years, his 4 loving children Lori Warren (Tom), Wayne Hoyt (Adele), Maureen O’Grady (Emmett) and Cathleen Andersen (Glenn), his 9 cherished grandchildren Michael Warren (Andrea), Danielle Healey (Patrick), Amanda Hoyt, James Hoyt (Natalie), Kellie O’Grady Scully (Tim), Colleen O’Grady, Rebecca Andersen, Samantha Andersen, Glenn Andersen and his 3 great- grandchildren Shane Healey, Meghan Healey and Henry Martinez. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and worked at Lederle Laboratories for 43 years as a lab technician.
His favorite hobby was building and flying remote control airplanes which became a popular activity for the entire family. He was also an expert gardener, could fix anything, and loved spending time with his family. He was a talented guitarist and played in a local band in his younger years. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 4PM-8PM at TJ McGowan Sons, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. Services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 11AM at the funeral home followed by burial at Mt. Repose Cemetery in Haverstraw, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Floyd’s name to the American Cancer Society.
