Robert “Bob” Harrison Dick, 78, passed away on December 22, 2025 at his home near Idaho City, Idaho.
Born to Elizabeth “June” and Alvin Dick, in Boise, ID on September 3, 1947, Bob was the second of three children (older brother, Curt and younger brother, Ted). Bob’s early years were spent in Nampa, before the family moved to Boise, where he graduated from Borah High School.
Bob enlisted in the Army in November of 1965, and served as a Communications Operator during the Vietnam War, until being honorably discharged in November, 1968. While on leave in 1967, he met Joyce Mitchell, whom he married in May of 1968. The two would later have two sons, Vince in 1970, and Jarod in 1974. Bob and Joyce divorced in 1996, but remained friends until his death.
After his years in the Army, Bob took a position with Mountain Bell, using the skills he developed during his military service. Bob worked with the company through many of its transitions and iterations, until 2004. He remained close friends with many of those with whom he’d worked, enjoying reunions over coffee and phone calls, reminiscing about their years together.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed many years camping, hunting and fishing throughout the state with family and friends. As he grew older, his interest in the outdoors remained unchanged, but his focus shifted to simply watching and enjoying the deer, elk, and other “critters” he shared space with in the hills around his home. He enjoyed the land on which he lived, and the friends he made there. He was fortunate to have a community of friends and neighbors who shared his interests and who looked out for each other.
Bob often shared stories about them with his son, Jarod, who had the pleasure of meeting many of them over the years. Jarod would share stories and updates of his niece, and Bob’s granddaughter, Kayla, who he loved dearly.
Services are pending, and details will be shared upon final arrangement.
He will be missed.
