William “Bill” Kain, 57, husband of Lynne Merritt Kain, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026. A native of Midway, he was born on September 21, 1968, to the late Jack Kain and Kathryn Webb.
Bill’s most cherished role in life was being a husband and a father. Bill and Lynne spent over 30 loving years together and raised two sons, Graham and Lee. He found purpose in showing his children how to navigate life – teaching by example and instilling the core values of love, respect, and kindness into every moment possible. He looked forward to watching his family grow.
Bill often spent his free time with family and friends on the Kentucky River, cruising around on his boat, water skiing, reading a good book, writing poetry, or playing his guitar. He was a gifted horseman, who spent several years operating Southern Way Farm with Lynne, where they trained and boarded thoroughbred horses. Bill loved animals and was almost always met with his faithful Boykin Spaniels, Blue and Silas, who never left his side.
Bill was proud to continue his family legacy as a Dealer Partner at Jack Kain Ford. He ensured that everyone who walked through the door was treated as an honored guest in his own home. His staff viewed him as a mentor, coach, and friend. Everyone who had the honor of knowing Bill valued his listening ear, loyalty, and eagerness to lend a helping hand at a moment's notice, no matter the inconvenience. There truly was no better father, friend, or family member than Bill Kain.
In addition to his wife Lynne, he is survived by his beloved step-mother, Alice Kain; his sons, Graham Kain, Versailles, and Lee Kain, Midway; his sister, Vicki Fister (Dan), Versailles; and his brothers, Patrick Kain (Mary), Midway, David Kain (Eve), Louisville, Steve Kain (Barbara), FL, and Bob Kain (Jan), Midway.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Becky Grimes and Suzanne Hockensmith as well as his brother, Jack “John” Kain Jr.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Monday, February 9, 2026, at St. Leo Catholic Church in Versailles, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00pm. Burial will be private at the Midway Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Graham Kain, Lee Kain, Patrick Kain, Bob Kain, David Kain, and Steve Kain. Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Woodford Humane Society or Second Chance at Life (secondchanceky.org), raising awareness about organ donation in Bill's honor.
