Betty Jean Anadio, 92, passed away January 30, 2026 with her family by her side. She was born April 23, 1933 in Gloversville, NY to the late Scott R. and Marion Bowers Houghteling.

She was a graduate of Gloversville High School class of 1951. Following graduation, she began working for GTE Telephone Company and worked there for over 35 years. She also worked at NBT Bank for 10 years before fully retiring. She married Joseph F. Anadio on April 8, 1956 and were married for 54 years before his passing. Together they loved traveling, often to the beaches in New Hampshire and Wildwood, New Jersey. They enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, memorably spending summers by the pool with the occasional mudslide. They enjoyed watching the Yankees. Betty also enjoyed quiet moments, among her favorite pastimes were jigsaw puzzles and reading.

Betty is survived by her children Mary VanWicklen (Michael) and Michele Maye (Jim); grandchildren Bridgett Walrath, James Anadio II, Andrew Anadio, Brienna Malagisi, and Eric Maye (Morgan); great grandchildren AJ, Andrew, Jackson, and Madison; brother Scott R. Houghteling; daughter in law Claudette; and dear friend Bill Blowers. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in laws.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son James and great grandson Grayson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Betty's name may be made to the Jim Anadio Golf Scholarship Fund, C/O Mary VanWicklen  26 Catherine Street Amsterdam, NY 12010.

At this time, Betty's family has chosen to remember her life privately. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
