Chester “Chet” Guy Boren, age 84, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on January 27, 2026.
Chet was born on February 12, 1941, in Payette, Idaho, to Edwin and Lydia Boren. He was the youngest of two sons; his older brother was Ralph. Chet attended school in Payette until the age of 17, when he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
Chet served from 1958 to 1963, completing five years of honorable service. Two of those years were spent aboard a ship West back, where he traveled to China and Okinawa Japan. He completed the remainder of his service at Camp Pendleton, where he underwent prisoner-of-war training in Recon. During his time in the Marines, Chet earned medals for boxing, a skill that would remain an important part of his life.
After returning to his hometown, Chet attended several colleges before joining Job Corps, which eventually brought him to Juntura, Oregon. It was there that he met the love of his life, Sandy. They were married on May 1, 1969, beginning a marriage that would span 55 years.
Together, Chet and Sandy raised three children: their first son, Chad Boren, born in December 1969; their second son, Corey Boren, born in September 1973; and their daughter, Brandy Boren Deden, born in April 1976.
Chet and Sandy owned and built several bars and restaurants in Payette and Fruitland, Idaho. In addition to his business ventures, Chet used the boxing skills he developed in the Marines to coach and mentor others. He was a dedicated husband, father, and businessman who worked hard to provide for his family.
Throughout his life, Chet had a deep love for horses. He owned several Thoroughbreds and Appaloosas and traveled with his family to many towns to race them, creating lasting memories along the way.
