Mamie "Louise" Carroll, born on May 14, 1948, in Glade, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, in Bartow, Florida. Louise was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, whose life was marked by love of her family and her commitment to serving others.
Throughout her life, Louise demonstrated a profound dedication to the medical field. She pursued education with a focus on nursing, ultimately working her entire career within healthcare. Louise served at Polk General Hospital and retired as a Nurse Assistant from Gessler Clinic under the direction of Dr. Martinez. Even after her retirement, her passion for helping others continued, as she volunteered her time at Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine.
Her unwavering love for family defined her life. Louise is survived by her children: Shelia Perdue (Donnie), Ralph "Feller" Perdue (Brenda), and Raymond Perdue (Liz). She also grieved the loss of her late son, James "BB" Perdue (Sue), and mourns her husband, Larry Carroll, and her first husband, Ralph Perdue, who left her a widow. Louise was the beloved daughter of the late June Meeks and the cherished sister of the late Billy Martin. She leaves a legacy enriched by her niece Sara and nephew Clarence, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, grandnieces and grandnephews, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Louise was known for her love of travel, cherishing trips across the country alongside her husband, Larry. Together, they enjoyed thrilling rides on their Harley Davidson, creating lasting memories with lifelong friends. A devoted animal lover, she treated her dogs and granddogs as integral members of her family.
Louise faced significant health challenges including an aneurysm and Macular Degeneration. Despite the struggles she encountered her spirit remained indomitable. In a selfless act of generosity, Louise chose to donate her eyes to research, hoping to aid those who suffer from similar afflictions.
A funeral service to celebrate Louise's life will be held at Kersey Funeral Home in Auburndale, Florida. Visitation will begin at 10 AM, followed by the service at 12 PM. Flowers and arrangements can be sent to Kersey Funeral Home in Auburndale, Florida.
