In Loving Memory
Loading
Doris M. Wood, 93, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. A woman of deep conviction and vibrant spirit, Doris was known by all as a true "spitfire." She was a woman of unwavering faith and a devoted member of her church. Above all else, she loved her family fiercely, finding her greatest joy in her roles as a mother, grandmother, and sister.
The daughter of the late Lester Baughman and Alma Lacon Baughman, Doris is now reunited in eternity with her beloved husband, David Eugene "Gene" Wood; her son, Michael Eugene Wood; and her brother, Leroy Baughman.
Her legacy of love and strength lives on through her surviving family, including her daughter, Darlene Erskine (Hump); her granddaughter, Jessica Erskine; and her grandson, Corey Erskine (Jessica). She was the proud great-grandmother of Austin Erskine. Doris is also survived by her sister, Alberta Poole; her brothers, Lester Baughman Jr. (Avon), and Harold Baughman (Jean); as well as multiple nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
A graveside service will be held to honor Doris’ life on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 1 pm at the Lybrand Cemetery on 3712 Delree Street in West Columbia, SC 29169.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Doris’ memory to Amedisys Hospice or to an organization of one’s choice.
