Richard Elden Reyna, age 67, formerly of St. Louis, MI, passed away on January 21st, 2026 at Banner Hospital in Tucson, AZ, where he had resided for 30 plus years.
Ric was born on July 10th, 1958 to Loretta Rose (Cowels) Becker and Dale Elden Becker. Ric was married to Pamela Gross on July 17th, 1976. He was employed by Michigan Masonic Home in Alma, MI in several administrative roles for many years prior to moving to Tucson.
He was preceded in death by his life partner and husband, Jorge Reyna, and parents, Loretta and Carl Derry, and Dale Becker. Ric is survived by his four siblings: Cheryl L. Price (of St. Louis, MI), Diane and Derek Slupka (of Davisburg, MI), Gary and Judy Derry (of St. Louis, MI), and Carla Derry (of Alma, MI). Additionally, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, his Goddaughter, his brother-from-another-mother, Jason (a friend of 28 years who held a full-time job of keeping Ric in line!), and Katie (the person that could get his attention like a mom or sister would and who teamed up with Jason to get through tough times!). Jason and Katie's love and devotion to Ric filled a special place in his heart. We also can't forget Deacon, Ric's little terrier rescue and travel buddy, who will miss him immensely.
To say Ric was a unique individual is an understatement. While living in Tucson, Ric started a new chapter in his life, which resulted in meeting Jorge Reyna, who was said to be his soulmate. Ric and Jorge had a Commitment Ceremony on May 30th, 1995 to solidify their domestic partnership.
Ric loved to travel, eat good food, and surround himself with people who understood that life is a gift. He was a loyal man to those he cared about, an honorable man when times were tough, and a man of courage when it really mattered. Now, for those of you that truly knew him - he had an evil laugh, a sarcastic wit, and a vocabulary that would make even a trucker blush. That was Ric in a nutshell - he was a person of many layers.
A celebration of life will be held on July 11th, 2026 at Leisure Lake Campground Pavilion (505 S. Warner Rd, Sumner, MI), starting at 11:00am. All are welcome.
