Juan Bautista “Johnny” Curet of Davenport, Florida passed away at his residence on February 1, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. He was 65 years old. Johnny was born on August 28, 1960, in homeland of Arroyo, Puerto Rico to Dolores Curet and Anna Maria Montes. As a youth, Johnny and his family moved to Bronx, New York, and eventually settled in Boston, Massachusetts, where he and much of his family lived until 2004, when he and his wife Ruth ultimately moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida. Johnny was a skilled carpenter and loved building homes. He took pride in working hard at his craft. In fact he had worked for Dream Works in Palm City for 6 years, where he was the supervisor and lead carpenter. When he wasn’t using his carpentry skills at work, he openly offered his expertise to assist family and friends with home building projects. It was truly a labor of love.As his birth name suggests, Johnny was a man of faith, and participated in daily devotion. He was a member of Pricipe de Paz Church in Port St. Lucie.Johnny had a fondness for good music, dancing, and he loved a nice suit. But overall, his love for his family was unsurpassed. He loved nothing more than spending time with his many siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins, children, and grandchildren and took great pleasure being at gatherings with good food, drinks, and laughter.Johnny was predeceased by his parents, Dolores and Anna Maria. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ruth Colon-Curet; children, Antonio, Joshua, Lissette and her husband, Joseph, Giovanni and his wife Jelayna. Johnny has 11 grandchildren as well as a great granddaughter. Additionally, Johnny was one of 15 children. He is survived by remaining siblings, Luis, Hector, Harold, Awilda, Martha, Annie; all of whom he loved and cared about dearly.A memorial for Johnny will be held Monday, February 9, 2026, from 6-8 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City and the funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 11 am Rolling Hills Cemetery Winter Haven.
