Anthony "Tony" Gentile, 79, of ZephyrHills, Florida, passed away January 31, 2026. Born and raised in Endicott, NY, Tony graduated from Union Endicott High School's class of 1964.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph P. and Tena M Gentile, and his sister, Joanne Gentile. He is survived by his sister, Donna Giles and her husband, Joseph, several cousins, a very special community of friends in ZephyrHills, and his partner and soulmate, Ann Carpenter.
In October 1964, Tony enlisted in the Navy at the US Training Center in Great Lakes, IL. Unfortunately, due to health issues, Tony was forced to withdraw from service and was discharged. Tony went on to serve his country in other ways; most notably through his tireless advocacy with AmVets, the VFW, the Moose Club, and the American Legion Post 252 in Seminole, Florida, where he rose to the level of Commander.
Tony was charismatic and embraced life to the fullest. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved to travel, enjoy a delicious meal and spend time with his friends. All who knew Tony loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to AmVets or Shriner's Hospital are appreciated.
A Memorial Mass will be Wednesday, March 11 at 11am, St. Jerome Catholic Church with a reception to follow. Anthony will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
