Mary Angeline (Barone) Helman, born January 25, 1935, passed January 27, 2026, at age 91, in Seattle, Washington.
Mary was born to Michele and Frances Barone in Seattle, the third of four children. Her elder sister, Carmen, her brother, Michael, and her beloved husband Jerry preceded her in death.
Her younger sister, Gloria, survives her.
Mary graduated from Holy Angels Academy in 1952. She quickly obtained a secretarial job at Pacific National Bank in downtown Seattle. She returned to college for a brief while at Seattle University, but then was rehired at PNB, where she stayed for 15 years. She traveled to Hawaii, DC, and Europe during her tenure at the bank.
In 1966, Mary met Jerry Helman at Arden Lanes, where she was on a bowling league, and where he often ate lunch. They enjoyed a brief courtship and were married in October of 1967. Mary and Jerry soon welcomed two children: Teresa, in 1968, and Jeffrey, in 1971.
Mary left the bank after having children, choosing to be a mother and homemaker for over a decade.
She eventually took a part time secretarial job for an at-home business, and later worked at Met Life Insurance, where she remained until taking an early retirement.
After leaving the workforce, Mary generously donated her time to Holy Rosary Church in many ways (serving at funeral receptions, holy hour, Eucharistic minister), and at Swedish Hospital in Edmonds, Washington.
Once Jerry retired, the two of them traveled frequently, visiting places like New Zealand, Australia, Italy, and France. They also became great friends with a Toyota car club group, and took many road trips to Chelan, Ocean Shores and other Washington destinations, as well as to club members homes in Oregon, and Canada.
Mary was well known amongst all her friends for being generous, fun, and caring. She baked brownies for car meets and never missed the chance to mail someone a birthday card. She was a strong supporter of Jerry's hobbies, and her children's careers. She often met with her sisters, whom she loved dearly. She had many lunch pals from school, church, from the neighborhood, and most recently from Cristwood, where she resided after her beloved Jerry passed away.
Mary was a devout Catholic, and she is certainly welcomed into the afterlife warmly. She is now happily reunited with her husband of 55+ years.
Mary was a wonderful wife, loving sister, mother, aunt, and friend to so many. Her adorable laugh and caring spirit will be missed by the enormous circle of people whose lives she touched with her kindness.
