Mrs. Alicia Hahn, 66, of Cobleskill, passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2026, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Born on April 6, 1959, in New York City, Alicia was the daughter of the late Eduardo and Claudina Hernandez Kercado. She graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1977 and later earned an associate degree in Early Childhood Education from SUNY Cobleskill— an education that reflected her natural calling as a nurturer and caregiver.
Above all else, Alicia’s greatest joy and proudest role was being a mother and abuela (grandmother). She devoted many years to raising her children as a stay-at-home mom, pouring her heart into creating a loving, supportive home. Her children were the center of her world, and that love only grew deeper when she became a grandmother. Alicia cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and took immense pride in each of them, delighting in their accomplishments, personalities, and time together.
Later in life, Alicia began a long and dedicated career with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany, where she worked as a Tax Regulation Specialist for 25 years.
Family always came first for Alicia. In addition to her devotion to her children and grandchildren, she found meaning in giving back to others. She was passionate about charitable work, especially fundraising for Marathon for a Better Life: Team Valerie, and the Ronald McDonald House along with several other organizations close to her heart.
On August 14, 2015, Alicia married Paul George Hahn, who survives her. Together they traveled the world, treasuring both the journeys they took and the memories they made.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved children: Paul Daw (Kelly) of Broadalbin, Kristen Twardzik (Tim) of Tribes Hill, Angela Hill (Jesse) of Broadalbin, Jeanie-Marie Scarano (Philip) of Galway, and Kevin Cowles of Amsterdam. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren— Daisie, Donovan, Triton, Anderson, Isla, Jesse, and Philip— and one on the way who were the light of her life.
She is also survived by her siblings: Eduardo Kercado (Rebecca) of Eatonton, Georgia, Nelson Kercado of Syracuse, Angelita Kercado of Amsterdam, her twin brother Miguel Angel Kercado (CarolAnne) of Santa Maria, California, and Alberto Kercado (Eva) of Williamsburg, Virginia; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Alicia was predeceased by her brother, Alfredo Kercado, and her sister, Nora Figueroa.
Friends and family are invited to join in a Time of Remembrance for Alicia on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made in Alicia’s memory to the Marathon for a Better Life, Team Valerie, at www.marathonforabetterlife.org or the Ronald McDonald House, 139 South Lake Avenue, Albany, NY 12208.
