Doris Jean Draeger (nee Zimmerman) 94, of Jefferson passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
She was born July 14, 1931, in the town of Farmington at home, the daughter of the late Paul and Regina (nee Wenzel) Zimmerman. She married Lester Draeger on August 21, 1948, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Rome, WI. She was employed in the kitchen of Equity Auction Market, Johnson Creek, for 21 years. Doris was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farmington. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid there. Doris enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and watching sports on television.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Laurie (Jim) Butzine of Lake Mills; her three sons, Del (Linda) Draeger of Ocala, FL., Ralph (Susie) Draeger of Fitchburg, and Les (Deb) Draeger of Helenville; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Fischer of Helenville, Joan Zimmerman of Jefferson, Lucille Zimmerman of Watertown, and Judy Draeger of Watertown; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was the last member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Draeger; a daughter, Susie Draeger; an infant grandson, Joshua Draeger; five brothers, George (Loretta) Zimmerman, Leroy (Deloris) Zimmerman, Kenny (Char) Zimmerman, Earl Zimmerman, and Merlin Zimmerman; and three sisters, Leona (Harold) Wille, Elsie (Ted) Shultz, and Anna (Gerald) Bentheimer.
VISITATION: The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home, 900 W. Racine St., Jefferson.
VISITATION: The family will greet relatives and friends also on Monday, February 16th, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Farmington, W4095 County Rd. B, Johnson Creek.
SERVICE: A service to remember Doris will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16th, 2026, at the church with burial to follow.
Doris lived with Jim and Laurie for 3 ½ years and then at Sunset Ridge for 5 months. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Ridge and Agrace Hospice for caring for Doris in her final months.
Thank you to Lee and Toni Braatz for their weekly visits; you put a smile on her face.
Memorials in Doris’s name to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Farmington or Lakeside Lutheran High School are appreciated by the family.
