Pascal “Jim” DeBlasio was born in Boise, ID on May 25, 1945, and began his next journey on February 5, 2026. Jim grew up in Seattle, but eventually came to Olympia to work for state government. During his 30+ years of state service, he was recognized numerous times for his accomplishments, including receiving the Governor’s Distinguished Leadership Award. After retiring as the Director of Information Technology for ESD, he co-founded a successful technology consulting firm with wife Susan and best friends, Dan and Gail Swanson.
He developed a passion for writing fiction which provided many outlets for his creative mind. Although he was too humble to ever promote it, he was quietly proud when his book “Aloha Swan Dive” was published.
While there are many things he cared about: his 1995 Camaro convertible, all music (especially Bill Evans jazz), playing his piano, writing novels and music, lounging on the beach, spending time with friends, learning anything – what Jim loved most was home and family. For more than 47 years, every day began with him saying “Good Morning, Beautiful” to his wife Susan.
Those sparkling lights in the heavens display the shattered pieces of our hearts.
He is survived by his treasured wife, Susan, mother Ruby Lea, brother John (Cassie), sister Sandra (Greg), mother-in-law Peggy, sisters-in-law Jackie (Jerry) and Diane – along with numerous nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews in Washington, Montana and South Carolina.
He was predeceased by his father Pat, father-in-law Jack, sisters-in-law Deb and Becky, and brother-in-law Jeff.
At Jim’s request, no funeral will be held. A celebration of his love and life may be later this Spring.
Remembrances in his name are encouraged to local public television or the Jeff Wilmoth Scholarship fund through North Thurston Public Schools.
