Betty Ann (Oxandaburu) Warren-Reese, was born on a ranch in Troy, Colorado August 16, 1932, without a Doctor. She was a child of Jean Noel Oxandaburu and Juanita Gonzales. Her birth certificate reads Anna Oxandaburu.
She attended school at Kim, Colorado and finished high school at Trinidad Catholic High. While in high school, she was in a play and her character was Betty. From then on she went by “Betty Ann”.
She married James Lon Warren in Trinidad, Colorado in 1953. Nonie was born in Chicago in 1954, and James Lon, II was born in La Jolla, California in 1955. They moved back to Trinidad in 1957. Betty, Jim and Betty’s brother operated O&W Contractors until Jim passed in 1977. She also worked for a few years at the Trinidad Post Office. She was the first female Postmistress in Las Animas County.
Betty went on to pursue a successful career in real estate shortly after the death of her husband. That occupation continued for 45 years.
In 1981 Betty married Jake (Jesse) Reese which followed the death of his precious wife in 1979.
Betty and Jake were married over 44 years. In 2005 they moved to Greeley, Colorado and they called Greeley home ever since. Betty and Jake enjoyed traveling quite a bit during their marriage. She died peacefully, holding the second “love of her life‘s” hand at The Bridge Assisted Living, February 4, 2026. She was 93 years old.
She is survived by her loving second husband, Jesse “Jake” Cowell Reese; children, Wyona Ann (William) “Nonie” Sheel and James Lon (Bernadette) Warren, II; grandchildren, Stacy Ann (Collin) McCloud, children, Ryan (Terrell) Elizabeth Maddera-Webb, Max Maddera, Pypr McCloud, Saxon McCloud, Annie Lavoy (Daniel) Erickson, child, Asher Jay Erickson; Cassie Lee (Mike) Raub, Jeremy (Latoy) Maddera, Tori Noelle (Alan) Spicola, children, Daytona and Bristol Spicola; Cori Jean (Cory) Spence, children Bella Spence, Cash Spence, Tyler Spence, Azureya (Luke) Miller May, , Charli Cay (Mike)Tinlin, children, De La Croix and Knox Tinlin, James Lon (Dori) Warren, III, children, Ashton, Madeline and Elizabeth Warren; great-great grandson, Ronin William Webb; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jake had five children, Raymond Reese, Gregory (Julia) Reese, Pamela (Jackie) Copeland.
Between Betty and Jake, they had 7 children, 13 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Betty was proceeded by her first love of her life, James Lon Warren; parents; siblings, Virgina (Louie) Muniz, Ray (Mike) Sako, Howard Kitamura, Cadet (Eva) Oxandaburu, Harry (Margaret) Oxandaburu, Jean (James) Bollas; grandson-in-law, Jay Schnieder; Jake’s children who have passed, Linda (Paul) Dukor and Mark Reese.
Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2026, in the Adamson Life Celebration Home. Reception to follow at same location.
