On a warm and sunny day, the Lord came to take his faithful son, Samuel Leroy Jackson Jr, home to live with him. He was a humble man who loved the Lord and his family.
Samuel, or Sammy as he was known while growing up, was born in a small town in central New York State close to the Baseball Hall of Fame. He graduated from Otego Central school where he played basketball and baseball and met the love of his life. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Tiffany, after high school. In his 33rd year, he moved his family to warmer horizons in Phoenix, AZ. He worked 29 years at St Lukes Hospital in the maintenance department helping to keep the hospital running. He was an early member of Northwest Community Church where he cultivated his love for the Lord and developed deep and lasting friendships. Samuel was always willing to use his skills to help the church and others, including a mission trip to Grenada.
He was a man who exhibited a quiet strength and a loving heart, a peacemaker. He will be missed by his many friends and family. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Samuel L. and Vera Jackson and his only sister, Anna (Jackson) Lien. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth and daughters, Sheri Jackson and Marcia Wigginton and husband, Mark Wigginton.
A memorial service will be held at the Northwest Community Church, 16615 N 43rd Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85053, on February 16th at 10:30 AM.
