Harold "Gene" Eugene Latham, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Kathleen, Georgia, on February 9, 2026, at the age of 88. A graveside service, honoring his life and service, will be held at Andersonville National Cemetery on March 6, 2026 at 12:00 PM, where he will be laid to rest with military honors.

Born on May 9, 1937, in Porterdale, Georgia, Gene lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Gene was a proud United States Navy veteran and devoted his professional life to real estate, thriving as a developer and broker for over 50 years. His legacy in commercial and residential developments across Gwinnett, Dekalb, Hall, and Barrow Counties remains a testament to his expertise and integrity. Known for his warmth and humor, he was respected not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the kindness and compassion he extended to everyone he met.

A graduate of Newton County High School, Gene held a deep love for family. He spent 64 wonderful years married to his beloved wife, Mary Latham. He is also survived by four children: Anita Vigna (John) of Silver Spring, Maryland; Hal Latham (Lynn) of Cohutta, Georgia; Robin Latham of Suwanee, Georgia; and Ginger Conley (John) of Kathleen, Georgia. Gene was also the proud grandfather of seven: Dylan Conley of Kathleen, Georgia; McKenna Rustin (Phillip) of Reynolds, Georgia; Graham Conley of Kathleen, Georgia; Patrick Vigna of Silver Spring, Maryland; Kimberly Card (Bryan) of Clarkesville, Georgia; Cooper Latham (Colleen) of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; Sydney Hildebrandt (Austin) of Kennesaw, Georgia; and  ten great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marie Latham and two brothers, Jerry and Edwin Latham.

Gene's passions extended beyond work—he found joy in countless activities, from playing golf (often with his daughter Robin and late brother Edwin) to indulging in mystery fiction and classic westerns while sipping on endless cups of black coffee. Above all, Gene cherished his time with family, often gathering them for warm-hearted conversations filled with laughter and love.

Faith played a pivotal role in Gene's life. He began each day with heartfelt prayers and scripture readings, embodying a profound reliance on his faith in God. Even during his battle with terminal illness, he inspired those around him with his courageous spirit and confidence in the promise of a Heavenly home.

In remembering Gene Latham, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with purpose, compassion, and an enduring faith that inspires us all.
