Greensboro, NC— Mr. James “Jay” Amerson passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 8th. He was born October 1, 1955, in Sandersville, GA to the late Jeanette Snider and James B. Amerson.

He is survived by his life-long partner Cathy Jarrett, his son Michael Amerson and a grandson that he loved dearly, Paxton McKean.

James was a retired Project Manager with Colonial Pipeline.  He loved his work and managed many jobs up and down the East coast. He took pride in all his projects and developed life-long relationships with many of his coworkers.

During the summer you would find Jay kneeling over his tomato plants.  They were an envy to all that knew him! He ate a tomato sandwich every afternoon during the growing season.  It was always a sad day for him when the last tomato of the year was consumed. He was an avid cook, loved trying new recipes and could grill a mean juicy steak.  He leaves behind his two favorite pets, Lottie and Scooby Doo. Jay was a lover of all creatures, especially furry ones with four legs. You would be hard pressed to ever find him without a treat in his pocket, an empty lap, or a parade of animals not following behind at his heels.

At Jays request, a service will not be held. If you would like to honor his life, please consider a donation in his name to the Guilford County Animal Shelter (980 Guilford College Road, Greensboro, NC 27409)
