Minerva “Minnie” Alvarez, age 91, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, after a brief illness. Whether you knew her as Mom, Nana, Nina, or Titi Minnie, she touched every life with her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit. Minnie loved her family deeply and cherished every moment spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph R. Alvarez, and her son, Allen Alvarez.

Minnie is lovingly remembered by her children: Linda (Rick) Meyer, Ocala, FL; Daniel (Carmen) Alvarez, Bethel, CT; Ronald (Sherry) Alvarez, Antioch, IL.Her grandchildren: Robyn (Chris) Carlisle; Kelsey Alvarez; Lauren (Kevin) Bemben; Amanda Alvarez; Joseph Alvarez; Jonathan (Krystal) Meyer; Alyssa (Alex) Craig. Her great‑grandchildren: Reagan & Jack Carlisle; Connor & Ava Meyer; Baker Bemben; Jameson & Hendricks Craig.

Born in New York City, Minnie married shortly after the Korean War and left her work as a seamstress to raise her family of four. She was a gifted artist who enjoyed playing the piano, painting, and creating beautiful ceramic pieces. A talented cook and baker, she made countless cakes—especially character cakes—for her children and grandchildren. Her potato salad became a family favorite, and she delighted in hosting holiday gatherings.

Minnie took great pride in being a homeowner, having owned seven homes throughout her life. She never met a stranger; her warmth made everyone feel like an instant friend. After moving to Ocala in 1989 to be near her daughter, she enjoyed many years of retirement, joining a dance club, making new friends, and spending many evenings dancing.

She remained deeply involved in her family’s lives, attending school events, competitions, and celebrations for her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren. Minnie will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother. She was the heart of her family and will be missed more than words can say.
