Gilles Andre Gagnon, age 92, died peacefully at home on February 7, 2026, in Belchertown, Massachusetts.Gill now joins his high school sweetheart, soul mate and wife Joan M. Gagnon who together celebrated 62 years of marriage. His children and their spouses are Paul & Sue, of Denver Colorado; Joe & Margie of Belchertown, Bob & Carrie of Wilbraham and Doreen & Ray Cook of Purcellville, Virginia. Gill is survived by his sister in law Jean Horne of Holyoke and many beloved nieces and nephews.Gill was Poppy to six grandchildren; Nick and his wife Emily, Jen and her husband LeRoy III, Michelle and husband Adam, Michael and wife Michaela, Caitlin and husband Charlie and Joe and fiancée Taylor. Gill was Great Poppy to his seven great grandchildren; LeRoy IV, Mia, Brayden, Emilianna, Joey, Maddie and Carter.Gill is preceded in death by his sisters, Yolande and Antoinette DiBenedetto and parents, Miliana and Joseph A. Gagnon.Gill was born on September 4, 1933 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Gill worked for the Holyoke Water Power and Northeast Utilities as both a Boiler Fireman and Operator for 35 years. While working there Gill served diligently as a Union Steward, focusing on ensuring employee safety and securing and maintaining employee benefits. Gill resided with his family in Chicopee for thirty years before moving to Belchertown for twenty-eight years. Gill was a parishioner of Saint Mary’s in Chicopee and then Saint Francis Catholic Church in Belchertown.Gill was an avid camper spending most summer vacations with family at Hampton Beach, N.H. In retirement Gill loved his winter trips to Walt Disney World, staying in pool homes with Joan and the family. Gill was an avid sports fan of the Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox’s.A funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, February 21st 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Belchertown. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gill’s life. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours are Saturday, February 21st  from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home.
