It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Joseph Hebert, Jr., who left us on February 11, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on December 2,1947 in Holyoke, MA. Donald lived a life rich in experiences and loved ones.
A proud veteran, Donald heroically served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era, a commitment he carried with honor throughout his life. He retired from Rock-Tenn Manufacturing Company in Chicopee, where he worked diligently as a steel rule die maker until his retirement.
Donald was a family man, cherished by his three children, Alan Hebert and his wife Tammy Nothe-Hebert, Daniel Hebert and his wife Desiree Hebert, and Thomas Hebert. He was also a beloved grandfather to his grandchildren— Alexandra Hebert, Allyson Hebert, Elissa Nothe, Devin Hebert, Dakota Hebert, Kayne Sheldon, Joshua Hebert, and Konner O’Neil, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is survived by his siblings, Jo-Ann Hebert and Robert Hebert, as well as his close friends, Susan and Yvan Houde. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald J. Hebert, Sr. and Marguerite (Peluzzi) Hebert, along with his daughter, Karen A. Hebert, and his sister, Donna Hebert.
Having lived in Monson for the past 15 years and previously in Palmer and Chicopee, Donald developed lasting connections in the community. He was a man of diverse interests; he found solace in deep-sea fishing and enjoyed his outings to casinos, especially MGM in Springfield and Revo in Keene, NH visiting his sister. Donald cherished the time he spent at the Mug-n-Muffin having coffee with his granddaughters. Music and cooking were his passions, pursuits he often shared with friends and family. Donald was a lifetime fan of the Indianapolis Colts football team. He enjoyed trips to New Orleans during Mardi Gras and traveled to Georgia to spend time with his dear friend Susan.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Donald’s life with a calling hour followed by personal reflections at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home on Monday, February 23rd at 11am. Military honors and burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA at 2:00pm.
