Roland Madore, 78, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on February 7, 2026.

 

Born on October 13, 1947, in Hartford, Connecticut, Roland was the fourth of six children born to Ralph and Cecile Madore. He grew up with two brothers and three sisters.

 

After graduating from high school, Roland attended Atlantic Union College in Massachusetts, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English and secondary education in 1972. While at Atlantic Union, he met Karen, whom he married in June 1969. In 1971, they welcomed their only daughter, Cherie. After completing his degree, Roland and Karen moved to her hometown of Loveland, Colorado. 

Roland began his teaching career in 1972 at Campion Academy, where he taught English and Speech until 1979. While teaching, he continued his education and earned a master’s degree in Communication from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley in 1978.

 

In 1979, Roland joined the staff at Windsor Middle School, where he taught English, Drama, History and advised the school newspaper until his retirement in 2007. Throughout his career, he was known as a dedicated educator a mentor and a strong advocate for students.  He valued thoughtful discussion and student engagement throughout his career and even in his retirement  

Roland was active in many volunteer roles for Fort Collins non profits and he remained a political activist throughout his life.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Cherie Madore Peschang son in law Jarrod Peschang his grandson, Grant Cuneo; his brother, Ronald Madore sister Deborah Ferguson and niece Dina Blais. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 of his siblings.

Roland’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 2:30 PM
