Kimberly Byers Adams, 66, passed away in her home on February 11, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on December 15, 1959, in Macon, Georgia, Kim lived a life marked by compassion, curiosity, and an adventurous spirit.
A proud graduate of Macon State College with a degree in nursing, Kim dedicated her professional life to caring for others. Her career reflected her love of travel and exploration—she served patients in hospitals across Georgia, Massachusetts, California, and ultimately, Arizona. Whether working the night shift or adjusting to new surroundings, Kim brought warmth and humor to every hospital floor she graced.
Kim’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life. She was known for cooking delicious meals for her fellow night-shifters and sharing laughter during long hours. She was known as “Mama” to many coworkers in her later years, and loved them like her family.
Travel was one of Kim’s greatest passions. She explored the world with enthusiasm—visiting Spain, Scotland, Mexico—and journeyed across the United States to national parks and historical sites with her family. Planning her next trip was not just a hobby but a joy that kept her spirit energized. A self-proclaimed foodie and lover of culture, Kim often built her travel itineraries around local cuisine, museums, and theater performances. These were traits which she passed on to both of her children.
Those who knew Kim remember her as funny, generous and outgoing—someone who never met a stranger. Her vibrant personality lit up every room she entered. She found joy in connecting with people from all walks of life and left lasting impressions wherever she went.
Kim is lovingly remembered by her daughter Melissa Cannon and husband Daniel; her son David Huegel; granddaughter Brianna Crockett; mother Betty Adams; sisters Kathy Corley and Arline Grizzard (Charlie); and nephews Marty Rowland and Chase Grizzard. She was preceded in death by her father Byers Adams.
Celebration of life drop-in gatherings will be held for her Arizona friends at her residence, 603 South Liana Ct., Tucson, AZ 85710, on Sunday February 22, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm; and for her Georgia family and friends at a later date and location TBA.
