Socorro Dayhuff was born on August 13, 1923, and passed away in her sleep on January 22, 2026.

Born in paso Robles to Frank Munoz and Frances Alvarez, Mrs. Dayhuff was the eldest of three sisters, Margaret (deceased) and Ruth Sulva, San Luis Obispo. Mrs. Dayhuff was employed for a number of years with army and Air Force Exchange Service at Fort Ord. Prior to permanently living on the Monterey Peninsula, Mrs. Dayhuff lived in various states and overseas throughout her life, with her husband George R. Dayhuff (deceased 1982) who served his country in the United States Army.

She is survived by her daughter Anna McGonis (James), predeceased February 4, 2019, by her eldest son Richard Aguilar, Katherine Kelly (Dennis), George Dayhuff (Valerie), Lola Gill, and Harry Dayhuff (Deanne). Mrs. Dayhuff is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age and followed Him throughout her life. We rejoice that we will meet her again for eternity with Jesus. Nana was an incredible woman with a zest for life and an infectious laugh.

Friends may come to pay their final respects on February 23, 2026, 11am at Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey, with the burial service at noon at San Carlos Cemetery.

Mission Mortuary opened its doors in 1946 at a location on Munras Avenue in Monterey and moved to our current location on Camino El Estero in 1952. While times certainly have changed, Mission Mortuary has continually adapted to meet the evolving needs of our families....
