Lloyd George Thompson Taylor Sr., of Montgomery County, MD, passed away on January 23, 2026 at 82 years old, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, strength, and resilience spanning three countries and hundreds of lives.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Lloyd Sr. was the oldest of four children born to Evelyn Saunders and Cyril Taylor. A passionate and protective big brother, Lloyd Sr. spent his formative years roaming the streets of Kingston Parish. After four decades on the island, he will be remembered there for his loud laughter, Caribbean audacity, and the infrastructure he built as a construction superintendent overseeing civil engineering contracts across parishes.
In the 1980s, Lloyd Sr. immigrated to the United States and had been a resident of Montgomery County for most of his remaining years, living in Silver Spring, Bethesda, Wheaton, Takoma Park, Montgomery Village, before spending the last years of his life at 17653 Shady Spring Terrace, Gaithersburg, MD 20877.
He is survived by his sister, Ruth Chu, his 16 children (Lloyd Taylor I, Ruth Crosdale, Lloyd Joseph Thompson Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor-Robinson, Johnny McQueen, Cleopatra Taylor, Arlene Roper, Marilyn Taylor, Pauline Taylor, Marie Taylor-Kubow, Alicia Taylor Broadbelt, Lloydette Thompson-Taylor, Lovette Thompson-Taylor, Lloyd Thompson-Taylor III, Lloydejzahia Thompson-Taylor, and Lloyd Thompson-Taylor IV), 30+ grandchildren, and 28+ great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at Rapp Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 933 Gist Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910, on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 12 p.m.
