Carl Wilburn Lipscomb Sr., 85 of Tunnelton heard the Blessed Savior’s call on Tuesday evening, February 10th, 2026, at his home, surrounded by so much love. Carl was born in Kingwood, WV on  December 16th,1940. He was a son of the late Ervin Joshua Lipscomb and Lula Pearl Hoffman Lipscomb.

He lived in Massachusetts for many years. In October 1968, he began working at Spalding, now known as Callaway, where he is honored for his work in the shop.  His hard work paid off when he was able to retire in June 2006, at the young age of 65. He then co-owned a pet store with his second wife for a few years, where he is remembered for his playful silliness with Buddy, his cockatiel.

Carl was a devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he would attend Sunday services as well as Wednesday night bible studies. Carl’s love for the Lord was always embraced fully.  Carl’s legacy continues to shine brightly through all the souls he has touched. He moved back to West Virginia in July 2009 where he lived the remainder of his life.

He was a dedicated member of the West End U.B. Church on Raccoon Valley Rd; where he served as an important contribution to the “West End Little Band.”  Carl is known for making music whether it be with his guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, harmonica, piano, whistling, and voice.   Carl loved getting the children involved in singing for Jesus too. He is known for singing many meaningful tunes with his loving family and friends.

Carl is survived by four daughters: Karen (Lipscomb) Cooper, Patricia (Lipscomb) Cronin, Cheryl (Lipscomb) Glidden, and Brenda (Lipscomb) Thibault; One son: Carl Lipscomb Jr., Two stepsons: Carter and Karl Lemieux; Twelve grandchildren: Meagan (Lipscomb) Host, whom he obtained Guardianship of and proudly raised, Stacey (Glidden) Valencia, Jeremy Cooper, Donald Glidden, Stephanie (Thibault) Deberry, Alyssa Jones, Andrew Thibault, Owen Lipscomb, Heather (Lipscomb) Thebodo, Issac Cronin, Emily Jones, and Katie Lemieux.   Carl also leaves behind several great-grandchildren who have been his brightest sunshine through his hardest days. Carl is also survived by four brothers: Larry Lipscomb of Tunnelton, Jerry Lipscomb, of Farmington, Arthur Lipscomb, of Kingwood & Donald Lipscomb of Morgantown; three sisters: Virginia Snyder of Morgantown, Joretta Stone of Kingwood & Phyllis Stewart of Fairview WV. Carl also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Theresa Lipscomb, first wife and mother of his children Marilyn (Mongeon)  Lipscomb, second wife Catherine (Willey Lemieux) Lipscomb, five brothers: Billy Ray, Dale Lee, Roy Allen, Ervin Lipscomb Jr. and Robert Lipscomb; five sisters: Arbutus Moran, Shirley Snider, Dorothy Williams, Violet Lavern Lipscomb and Nancy Hines; as well as many other close family members.  Anyone who knew the Lipscomb siblings knows singing and playing music together was the best kind of party. It is safe to say Heaven is having the largest Lipscomb Reunion they’ve had in years.  The Lipscomb family would like to express our most sincere gratitude to the loving caregivers from Amedisys Hospice.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Morgan Funeral Home, 13411 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Reedsville, for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the 4:00 p.m. funeral service, with family friend Pastor Sonny McNear officiating. Interment will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 10:00am, at St. Rose Cemetery in South Hadley, MA, where he will be laid to rest beside his first wife, love of his life, and mother of his children, Marilyn (Mongeon) Lipscomb.
