LaVaon S. Ottley passed away on February 11, 2026, in Sun City, Arizona. She was born on August 20, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Dorothy and Clyde Smith. She graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City.
LaVaon loved camping and fishing. She and her family began their adventures in a tent and later enjoyed traveling with a large truck camper. Crocheting was her favorite pastime, and she created countless afghans, sweaters, and even stuffed animals. She also operated her own business.
She married Robert G. Ottley, and together they had three children.
LaVaon was preceded in death by her sons, Trent Lee, who passed away at age 4, and Robert “Bob” Walter, who passed away at age 61.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Ottley; her daughter, Dorothy Kay Skorish and her husband, Michael; her granddaughter, Lauren; her grandson, Joe; and her in-laws, Dennis and R. Craig.
Services will be held at a later date.
