Jane Grigg Petticrew, 77, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on February 13th. Jane or J.P. as many knew her, was born on March 10, 1948. She was the daughter of Edward Ashby Petticrew and Janie Lois McDonald Petticrew.
Jane attended E. C. Glass High School and Longwood College. She loved English composition, and authored short stories and many poems. She was employed at Virginia Baptist Hospital, and later at Central Fidelity Bank. Jane was a lifelong member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church.
Her love of animals was a joy to her! Birds, dogs, cats, she loved them all! Jane gave generously to local animal shelters and her pets were always rescue animals. Pepsi, her little blue parakeet, gave her years of happiness!
Her many friends at Bentley Commons, where she lived for the past 11 years, remember her competitiveness in activities like bingo and bocce ball. She had a quick wit, and loved sharing “Dad jokes”!
She requested cremation, and her ashes will be scattered at a private ceremony .
Memorials may be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society, or to West Lynchburg Baptist Church.
Her special friend and caregiver, Kathy Bryant, thanks Tate Springs Health & Rehab for their loving care of JP for the past few months. Her Bentley Commons family mourns her passing ,misses her greatly, and remembers her fondly.
