Michelle Anne Courts passed away unexpectedly on the morning of February 7th, 2026, in Olympia, Washington. She was 66 years old.
Michelle was born in San Francisco, California, on February 16th, 1959, to Joseph and Barbara Yrigoyen. She graduated with honors from UC Davis with a degree in microbiology, a subject that had always fascinated her.
She was a devout Christian, a wife of 46 years to her husband Thomas Courts, and also his primary caregiver for the past two years. Michelle had a single son, Thomas Jr, born in 1989. She loved knitting and crocheting, crafting items for her friends, family, and the homeless. She taught ESL classes, served behind the scenes for senior lunches and numerous church projects, gave rides, and worked as a caregiver for those in need.
Michelle led a life of service, and she left behind a number of people who relied on her for help and support. Those who knew her well are encouraged to take up one of her burdens in lieu of offering donations or flowers. There is no better way to honor her memory than to continue her work.
Family, friends, and acquaintances are invited to attend her funeral on Thursday, February 19th, 1:00 PM at Emmanuel Bible Fellowship, 2508 State Ave. NE, Olympia, WA 98506.
