Doris (Dottie) Edens Bukovac, our beloved mother went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2026. She was born on September 27, 1933 in Sneads Ferry, NC. She is preceded by her husband Robert Charles and half brother Victor Capps.

She met Bob, the Love of her life, a Marine Staff Sergeant at Camp LeJuene which was across the river from her home. On November 22, 1951, she became Mrs. Robert (Bob) Bukovac. They celebrated 65 years of marital bliss before his passing in 2017.

Her first child, daughter Donna Rose Davidson (Johnny) was born in NC before moving to Bradenton, FL in 1955. Her son Michael James Bukovac (Teresa) and daughter Lora Ann Bukovac (Terry) were born at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, FL. They all currently reside in Port Charlotte, FL.

She began her career in Law Enforcement with the Bradenton City Police Department as a dispatcher. In 1966 a move was made a short distance to Sarasota, FL where she began working for the Sarasota Sheriff’s Department as the Records Supervisor with a rank of Sergeant. Her hard work earned her a promotion as the first woman to become a Lieutenant.

Among her many accomplishments, she was elected the President of the Gulf Coast Chapter of ARMA a National Records Management organization. After 26 years of service, she retired and began working and traveling the high seas of the Bahamas and Caribbean with Capt. Bob (Dad) as his First and only Mate on private yachts. Forever memories were made together from their travels and adventures during those years.

She was active in the Sarasota Outboard Club for many years where she served as Commodore and Dad was her First Boy, also the name of their boat. She was in her element boating, fishing, digging oyster and clams, camping, cooking and mostly spending time with family and many friends throughout her lifetime. We are so very blessed to have enjoyed all of these activities over the years with Mom and Dad until they were well up into their 80’s.

Mom loved Dad and her children more than anything in the world. God gave us the Best Mom ever. There was never a doubt how much she loved all of us. She was very instrumental in molding us into what we are today. She will be greatly missed in our everyday lives, but we will have the memories in our hearts forever.

Until we see you again Sweet Momma, We Love You.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
