Our beloved husband, son, brother, father and grandfather, John Olan Lewis went home to our Father February 10, 2026. He returned to the Lord peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
John dedicated his life to his faith, his country, and his family. He enthusiastically and dutifully served in the United States Navy for 30 years, specializing in Submarine Warfare. As a submariner, he lived by the silent, steadfast, and sacrificial service required in the deep. This served as a testament to the discipline and quiet strength he carried throughout his life. Throughout the duration of his service he earned the Submarine Warfare Pin (Enlisted) and the Surface Warfare Pin (Officer) and received the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy "E" Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Navy Overseas Service Ribbon, and Expert Pistol Shot Medal.
Following his military service, he continued to serve his family, neighbors and friends, modeling the Golden Rule as it is modeled to us in Matthew 7:12 which states "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets". His unwavering faith was the compass for his life as a living reflection of his devotion to God.
Those left to cherish and uphold his memory include his faithful and loving wife Renee who together were as one, joined together by our Lord. Inseparable, they delighted in each other's company and in every way in life worked together as a team. His devoted and caring mother Julia Lewis; his younger brother Wallace and his wife Shelly; His beloved daughter Jaclyn Tipton and her husband Eric; loving daughter Elizabeth Lewis; treasured daughter Rebecca Lewis and her husband Mitchell; Renee’s children who he loved as his own Brett and Alexa Weare; grandchildren Gloria, Luke, and Barnabas who lovingly referred to him as their “Pappy”; and his lifelong Brothers of the Phin.
