Jerome (Jerry) Comstock Silvey Sr. peacefully passed away on February 12, 2026. Born and raised in Englewood, NJ, he graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Electrical Engineering, where he was an All American soccer player. Jerry married Joan Bruns in 1956 and soon welcomed two boys. His career started in the Air Force, where he designed radar equipment and ultimately retired as a Captain after 10 subsequent years in the Reserve. While raising their family in New Jersey, Mississippi, Florida, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, he worked for the Singer, Westinghouse, Milgo Electronic and Kohler Corporations before founding the energy consulting firm, Power Solutions.
Jerry was very involved in his sons’ athletics and even started a soccer program at his sons’ high school while spending many many hours cheering on their baseball, football, tennis, track, and soccer teams.
Joan passed in 2021, but Jerry is survived by his two sons Jerry Jr. (and Antoinette) and Jim (and Caroline), his six grandchildren (Anne, Lauren, Kate, Jerry III, Chris and Jon), five great grandchildren (Emily, Chase, Henry, Clara, Lucy… with two more on the way), his nephew (Bill), and niece (Nancy).
A private memorial service will be held in the near future, and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Venice Presbyterian Church in Venice, FL. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements. To send a condolence or memory please visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com.
