Margaret Joanne “Peggy” Loucks, 89, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on February 15, 2026. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed. Peggy was born to Michel and Margaret Pasquier on November 19, 1936, in Aberdeen, Washington. The family moved to Portland, Oregon when she was very young, and she attended Holy Child Catholic High School for three years before moving to Sumner, Washington where she graduated from Sumner High School in 1954. While living in Sumner, Peggy met the love of her life, Allan Loucks. Peggy attended Seattle University on a music scholarship and graduated in 1958. Peggy and Allan were married on June 14, 1958, and they raised their eight children in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle, Washington.
Peggy’s life was one filled with strength, courage, compassion, humility and love. She was immensely accomplished at everything she did and never failed to bring her quick wit and clever sense of humor with her. She had a gift for lightening heavy moments by delivering perfectly timed one-liners. Peggy dedicated her life to raising her children with unwavering love, steady guidance and a faith-filled foundation that shaped who they are today. She was not only devout in her attendance at church every Sunday but was equally devout in her attendance over decades at her children’s sporting events, music lessons/recitals, theatre performances, and other extracurricular activities. She insisted on cooking a family meal every night, and she also loved planning family vacations to Black Butte Ranch and Cannon Beach. Peggy and Allan have been Washington Husky football season ticket holders for 67 years and Seattle Seahawks season ticket holders for 50 years. She and Allan were avid Square Dancers for over 20 years.
Peggy’s commitment to family was matched by her deep involvement in her church and community. She was an avid patron of the arts and regularly enjoyed visits to the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Symphony, and the Pacific Northwest Ballet. She was a staunch advocate for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association and knocked on doors in her neighborhood gathering donations for over 15 years. Peggy was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish where she served in many capacities including the Parish Council, the School Board, singing in the parish choir, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and volunteering as a teacher’s assistant for the Second-Grade students. Children were clearly Peggy’s passion. She raised eight of her own and impacted the lives of numerous others. She was a Camp Fire leader for many years, and for over 50 years she served in the Katherine Meloy Circle of the Association for Catholic Childhood (now Advocacy and Caring for Children (ACC)), a volunteer organization that provides care, funding and advocacy for Western Washington children and families in need.
After raising her children to adulthood, she especially enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren. And when she wasn’t spending time with her grandchildren, she was busy with crafting and cross-stitching. In addition to being a beautiful singer, Peggy played the piano and ukelele.
Peggy is survived by her husband Allan, her children Allan Loucks Jr., Mary Dowling (Tim), Michel Loucks (Trudy), Mark Loucks (Miki), Matthew Loucks (Carla), Magi Loucks, Anne Umberger (Rod), her beloved grandchildren, Brian, Joe, Sara, Matthew, Talia, Hailey, Wilson, Joely, Salina, Ayano, Kylie, Nicholas, Holly, Alicia, Hannah, Jonah, Jackson, and Colton, and six beloved great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son David Loucks, her daughter-in-law Alyce Loucks, and daughter-in-law Josie Loucks.
Peggy’s funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Seattle Washington on March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peggy’s memory to the Advocacy and Caring for Children (ACC) Endowment: https://acc.ejoinme.org/endowment.
