John R. Chabot, 77, of Lake Alfred, FL passed away on February 15, 2026. John was born on March 17, 1948, in Worcester, MA and was raised in Marlborough, MA. He attended Eymard Preparatory Seminary in Hyde Park, NY in high school, graduated from Holy Cross College in 1970, and received an MSW from the University of Connecticut School of Social Work in 1977. He worked for 25 years in children's services - mostly in Polk County, where he had relocated to in 1981. He then delved into rentals, rehabs, and home mortgages, while volunteering as a minister to the homebound from St. Joseph's parish, as a driver for five years with Meals on Wheels, and five years with Good Shepherd Hospice.

He is survived by several maternal cousins, as well as numerous friends.

There will be a funeral mass at St. Jospeh's Church of Winter Haven at a later date, and his cremated remains will be placed at the columbarium of St. Matthew's parish of Winter Haven.
